AluK India Hosts Yoga-Led Move for Life Initiative 2025 in Goa to Strengthen Our Fight Against Cancer

AluK India Hosts Yoga-Led Move for Life Initiative 2025 in Goa to Strengthen Our Fight Against Cancer

AluK India marked the 2025 edition of its Move for Life initiative at the dawn of 14 November, unfolding along the serene stretch of Raj Baga beach in Canacona at The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort, Goa. As the first light touched the shoreline, 42 employees, including senior leadership, gathered for a professionally guided yoga session held in conjunction with the company’s broader social responsibility agenda to support the fight against cancer.

Leading the programme were Ms. Hélène Roux, President & Chairman of AluK (Luxembourg), and Mr. Subhendu Ganguly, Managing Director of AluK India, whose presence underscored the organisation’s cross-regional emphasis on health, well-being and community engagement.

The morning began with a one-hour yoga session by an instructor, during which participants moved through a disciplined sequence of foundational asanas, including Tadasana, Marjaryasana, Bitilasana, Bhujangasana and more, aimed at improving stability, flexibility and controlled breathing. The structured routine set a focused start to the day and reinforced the initiative’s connection to AluK India’s wider commitment to cancer awareness and preventive health.

In continuation of its global commitment to cancer care and the broader fight against the disease, AluK India presented a donation of ₹75,000 (€730) to the Goa Cancer Society (GCS). Employee contributions accounted for ₹32,502 of the total, with the remainder provided by the organisation. The donation was received by Dr. Suresh B. Shetye, Vice President of GCS.

Established in 1968, GCS has played a critical role in strengthening cancer services in Goa. The organisation set up the state’s first Cancer Hospital and introduced its first Cobalt Unit in 1977, and continues to conduct subsidised screenings, rural outreach, counselling programmes, research activities and medical collaborations.

AluK India’s participation aligns with the company’s broader effort to advance cancer awareness, early detection and support for patients and families. The event highlighted how local initiatives continue to strengthen AluK’s collective impact across the regions in which it operates.
